Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival & The Amazon Greeting (Jan 7 or 8)

Highlights: Esplanade des Amazones • Welcome Dinner

Arrive at Cotonou Cadjehoun International Airport, where your guide greets you with a warm Bienvenue! and transfers you to your hotel.

Visit the Esplanade des Amazones to admire the towering 30‑meter bronze statue honoring the legendary all‑female warriors of Dahomey.

In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner in the Haie Vive district, a lively hub for Beninese and French fusion cuisine.

Day 2 — Ganvie: Resilience on the Water (Jan 9)

Highlight: The Venice of Africa

Before the festival begins, journey to Ganvie, a city built entirely on stilts in the middle of Lake Nokoué.

Board a traditional boat to explore floating markets, schools, and shrines. Learn how the Tofinu people created this aquatic refuge centuries ago to escape slave hunters, forming a unique culture of resilience and ingenuity.

Day 3 — National Voodoo Festival Day (Jan 10)

Day 4 — The Ancestral Path (Jan 11)

Visit the Tree of Forgetfulness, where captives were forced to circle and forget their origins, and the Tree of Return, symbolizing spiritual homecoming.

Enter the Temple of Sacred Pythons, where dozens of serpents are revered as divine messengers. Receive a blessing  if you wish by having one gently placed around your shoulders.

Continue to Kpassè Sacred Forest, an ancient woodland believed to house the spirits of 

Dahomey kings. Walk among towering trees and shrines that embody centuries of spiritual continuity.

Day 6 — Soft Life at Grand‑Popo (Jan 13)

Highlight: Mono River Cruise

Travel to Grand‑Popo, a serene coastal town where the Mono River meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Take a boat trip through mangroves at Bouche du Roy, observing “Salt Women” harvesting salt using traditional methods.

Enjoy a fresh lobster lunch and relax beneath coconut palms on a perfect day of renewal after the spiritual intensity of Ouidah.

Day 7 — Final Souvenirs & Departure (Jan 14)
