Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Accra

Akwaaba! Upon reaching Kotoka International Airport, our professional Cultural Guide will greet you and coordinate your transit to the hotel via a private, climate-controlled vehicle. This arrival signifies the start of a truly remarkable vacation. Following your check-in, your dedicated escort will conduct a thorough orientation regarding the adventures that lie ahead during your stay in Ghana.

Day 2: Accra City Tour

Highlights: W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, Makola Market, Black Star Square

Welcome to the spirited capital of Accra, a city where contemporary design coexists with historical colonial edifices. This 120-year-old metropolis boasts a diverse array of landmarks spread throughout the New Town, Ga Mashie, and Jamestown districts. Today’s schedule features a visit to the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, currently serving as a museum and hub for Pan-African research, along with a drive past Flagstaff House, the official workplace and residence of Ghana’s President.

 

Day 3: Historical Accra & Jamestown

Highlights: Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Jamestown Community

After breakfast, we start our day in Accra with a drive across Independence Square, the central venue for Ghana's primary state celebrations. We then proceed to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting location of Ghana’s founding president, which includes an informative museum and manicured lawns.

The afternoon concludes in Jamestown, among the city’s most storied districts. You will participate in a pedestrian tour to observe local traditions, the classic lighthouses, and Ussher Fort. Throughout the walk, immerse yourself in the local lifestyle with a specialized street food tasting, featuring regional staples like Ga Kenkey, Banku, and Waakye.

 

Day 4: Accra day at Leisure

This date is reserved for "soft life" living a period dedicated entirely to rest and physical renewal. You are encouraged to relax completely as you prepare for a high-end spa session at the Kempinski Hotel. As evening approaches, we transition to Sky Bar 25, the tallest structure in Ghana, for a festive birthday banquet complemented by African melodies, gourmet cuisine, and excellent company.

Day 5: Accra l Kumasi

Highlight: Manhyia Palace

After breakfast we depart to Kumasi, reaching the city by late afternoon. Our primary objective is Manhyia Palace, the formal seat of the Ashanti Monarchs (Asantehene) until 1974. At present, it functions as a museum displaying a superb assortment of relics and historical treasures belonging to the Ashanti Kingdom.

 

Day 6: Kumasi

Highlights: Adanwomase & Ntonso

Following breakfast, we journey into the fertile rural landscapes to visit celebrated craft hamlets. In Adanwomase, observe the detailed technique of weaving Kente cloth by hand on antique looms and take the chance to acquire genuine textiles.

Next, we explore Ntonso, the center of Adinkra cloth production. Discover how natural black pigment is sourced from tree bark and participate in stamping traditional symbols to produce your own Adinkra sash. The night wraps up with local melodies and hospitality at Casa Restaurant or Ike’s Café.

 

Day 7: Ashanti Heritage & Unity

Highlights: Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum

After your morning meal, we visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, a holy emblem of Ashanti solidarity indicating the place where the Golden Stool reportedly descended from the heavens three centuries ago. Later, tour the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and visit several workshops where local brass smiths, ceramicists, and batik creators exhibit their craftsmanship.

 

Day 8: Kumasi | Assin Manso | Elmina

Highlights: Assin Manso Slave River, Elmina Harbor

We travel toward Cape Coast, pausing at Assin Manso, the historic internment site of two formerly enslaved individuals from North America and Jamaica. You will view the "Slave River" (Donkor Nsuo), where captives were forced to take their final bath before being relocated to coastal fortresses. We then continue to Elmina, providing an opportunity to photograph the colorful fishing fleets returning to the shore.

 

 

Day 9: Coastal Fortresses & History

Highlights: Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle

After breakfast, we tour Elmina Castle, the earliest European edifice constructed in Sub-Saharan Africa. Embark on a moving tour through the holding cells and the "Door of No Return." Subsequently, explore Cape Coast Castle, which contains the West African Historical Museum. The afternoon ends with a pedestrian tour of the historic and multicultural town of Elmina.

 

 

Day 10 A Culinary Odyssey

Highlight: West African Cooking Class Spend your morning mastering the fragrant and exotic flavors of Ghana. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the secrets of traditional African cooking techniques to create staple dishes like Peanut Butter Soup, Palava Sauce, and Yam.

 

Day 11: Cape Coast l Accra

Highlight: Kakum National Park

Following check-out, we drive to Kakum National Park, a tropical woodland that hosts varied fauna and rare plant life. Walk across the celebrated Canopy Walkway, a 330-meter suspension bridge network hanging 100 feet above the jungle floor. Participate in a botanical walk to learn about the healing qualities of local vegetation before heading back to Accra.

 

Day 12: Departure

Partake in your final morning meal in Ghana. You will have a window for last-minute gift shopping and quiet contemplation before your airport transfer for the flight home. You depart with a refreshed and optimistic bond with the Motherland.
